Solution a.d.-Happily Ever After (TAG/Atlantic)

One of the great things about rock these days is that people are starting to remember rhythm. It was beginning to disappear for a while there.

The latest by Solution A.D. is a good example of this musical resurgence. Sure, it can rock out, but it also places importance on song structure. "Atypical Day" has a nice bluesy backbeat complementing its ragged rck vocals and poppish backup. "Haunt" is a grunge howl, but like much of Nirvana, the hook is insidious and plants itself into the subconscious.

The band realizes that having a tune isn't a sell out, and thus the album is a joy not a chore to listen to.  (11/96)
